The “We give a sh*t” Behaviour Membership

The 12 month Behaviour Membership to empower educators to engage all of your pupils (even the ones who don’t give a sh*t)

I invite you to join me and my community of Inspiring Educators in the 12 month “We give a sh*t” Behaviour Membership

Meet your host

Is this you?

You want to be the Inspiring teacher and leader you always dreamed of – for all of your pupils (even the *tricky* cherubs)

You want to maintain positivity when pupils (or staff!) are challenging you with their behaviour (even during world pandemics)

You want to be part of a community that recognises that fostering positive behaviour in schools is not a ‘once-done’ ‘be extra strict’ approach (even when the behaviour policy says so)

What others are saying

Lots of useful advice that can be used within my classroom. It’s been interesting to hear your real life experiences and how you dealt with them.

Primary Teacher

“Adele’s energetic and engaging delivery, coupled with her in depth knowledge of supporting students and staff in multiple settings, created a safe, thought provoking and proactive environment.”

Paul Letch - Headteacher

Huxlow College Secondary School

I now have more awareness around behaviour and feel more confident to try new strategies. It was fun and enjoyable, a real eye opener, thank you.”

Does this sound familiar?

You had some Behaviour Management CPD once, it was pretty good –  on the day.

That day was 7 years ago and *one or two* things have changed in the world since then….

Day-to-day, despite wanting to be engaging and enthusiastic about your lessons, you’re tired, frustrated and can oh-so-quickly slip into ‘shouty teacher’ even when you promised yourself that you wouldn’t – because what else can you do?

You can’t get them to be quiet? No one’s following the behaviour policy? Your stomach churns every time you see 8FR on your timetable….

…and when was the last time you managed to have a lunchtime break (let alone eat anything)?

You want to make a positive difference to all of your pupils’ lives and help lift their aspirations, so that even the ones with challenging behaviour can find enjoyment in your lessons – and make academic progress.

You want to understand your pupils with additional behaviour needs and SEMH, and effectively differentiate your learning to help them thrive with their education, so that you can become that teacher that you dreamed of when you stepped into the job…

The“Miss, I don’t give a sh*t” Behaviour Membership is your 12 month ONGOING support for behaviour in your classroom and school.

What topics are covered each month?

The three Key Areas circle around during the year to include all of the chapter topics covered in the book:

Chapter 1: Boundaries, negotiation and self-care

SO THAT you can feel confident in maintaining ‘yes’ and ‘no’ when needed for yourself, your colleagues and the pupils. Your ability to easily and calmly negotiate, hold boundaries and maintain self-care practices (even during exam season) will result in more clear expectations, communications and engagement in the classroom.

Chapter 2: Safety first (learning second)

SO THAT you know how to create the basic need of safety in your classroom and school for all of your pupils, even when it looks different to your version of safety (only then will they be able to focus on the periodic table).

Chapter 3 – Building Relationships

SO THAT you save time and frustration talking to The Blank, grunts or four letter words…having a positive working relationship with your pupils enables them to trust you, to trust you to take them further than they have ever been with your subject…to trust that when they inevitably fail at some point that, that is not the end; which enables you to support and teach.

Chapter 4: See the child, not the behaviour

SO THAT when Mo shouts in your face or Sandra bursts into tears on being asked to pick up her pen, you not only understand where that behaviour may be coming from, but also how to help them re-focus quickly on the learning.

Chapter 5: Explicitly teaching behaviour and self-regulation

SO THAT you can confidently teach a pupil how to regulate their behaviour, rather than the banging-head-against-the-wall feeling. This way, communication with the pupils becomes easier – whether that’s about sharing in the sandpit or poetry analysis.

Chapter 6: Don’t take it personally

SO THAT you can save time, energy (and tears) dealing with personal triggers, and instead keep the focus on your pupils’ behaviour and needs so that the learning becomes paramount.

Chapter 7: Inclusivity, belonging and bias

SO THAT instead of worrying about whether they are welcomed or belong in your classroom, all of your pupils know that they are…leaving them free to listen and learn from you, as you enthuse and inspire with your subject.

Chapter 8 – Be part of a team

SO THAT you save the stress of re-inventing the wheel! Counterintuitively; leaning into support frees up more time and energy for you to focus on your pupils and their learning.

Chapter 9 – Schoolwide approaches to behaviour

SO THAT expectations across the school become consistent, and easier to follow for all. The effect of a schoolwide shared ethos on behaviour, is that everyone feels supported in the community’s values, issues are dealt with more swiftly and the learning takes centre stage.

    Chapter 10 – Troubleshooting

SO THAT when the sh*t hits the fan, and it’s all cracking off, you can get quick answers and strategies to some of the most common behaviour issues – to restore calm and sanity in your mind and classroom quickly.

    Hello Inspiring Educators,

I’m Adele Bates, Behaviour & Education Specialist, International Keynote Speaker and Author – and founder of the “Miss, I don’t give a sh*t” Behaviour Membership.

I’ve had juice poured on my head, been whacked by a skateboard – and have taught a year 7 pupil who has experienced severe trauma, how to read their first ever word…

I empower school leaders and teachers to support pupils with behavioural needs and SEMH to thrive with their education. I’m an International Keynote Speaker, including TEDx 2020, the author of “Miss, I Don’t Give A Sh*t,” Engaging with Challenging Behaviour in Schools, forthcoming from Sage & Corwin and a fully funded International Researcher on Behaviour & Inclusion. I’ve featured on BBC Radio 4 as their expert on teenagers and behaviour; am a writer for TES, Sec Ed, Headteacher Update & regular blogger for Optimus Education and a Trainer for the National Education Union, Amnesty International, Red School and schools across Europe.

    FAQs

Is the "Miss, I don't give a sh*t" Behaviour Membership for me?

    Yes if –

    • You need ongoing support and inspiration when it comes to behaviour that’s challenging in your school
    • You are looking for a community of like-minded educators who share the sh*t days, celebrate those smooth flowly ones, offer ideas from their experience and have a giggle when needed!
    • You are a teaching assistant/teacher/learning support mentor/SENCO/pastoral team/SLT/someone-who-works-in-schools-with pupils!
    • You are the kind of educator who believes in their pupils, who knows that ever-stricter-policies will not end well, and who wants to be part of a global community of positive impact in our education world.
Is this for educators in all settings?

Yes. I have personal experience working with pupils and schools in mainstream primary, secondary and infants; PRUs, APs and special schools. I support all staff with behaviour and SEMH pupils, no matter their setting.

What’s the time commitment per month?

One of the reasons that I made this a membership rather than a course, is that you can take yourself through the content as and when you can. There is no ‘behind’ and no set homework (I’m not ringing anyone’s parents/carers!)

All of the resources, workshop and guest speaker recordings will be banked in the resource library, which you will be able to access online at any point during your 12 month membership. The monthly workshops and bi-monthly guest speaker slots are 1hr approx, which you can attend live or recorded. The challenges set each month can be done as much or as little as you are able to (of course, the amount you can engage with it will affect the results).

    How is the Membership delivered?

The community will be on a non-Facebook platform. On joining you will receive a login and password via email.

    What are the payment options?

You can either pay monthly or receive one month free by paying for the full 12 months upfront, for both regular membership and VIP membership options. It is our aim that you will be completely happy with the membership and find educational content and form friendships. However, you can cancel your membership at any time by giving us 30 days’ notice before your next payment, such cancellation will take effect from the end of your 12 month subscription or 3-month fixed term subscription. Please see our Terms & Conditions for details.

Can I leave at any time?

You can cancel your membership at any time by giving us notice, and such cancellation will take effect from the end of your 12 month subscription or 3-month fixed term subscription. Please see T&Cs for details.

    Do you give refunds?

No we do not do refunds. Please see T&Cs for details.

Is the book included in the membership?

No, the book is not a part of the membership, however you will be given a 25% discount code that you can use to purchase “Miss I don’t give a sh*t” Engaging with Challenging Behaviour in Schools when ordered via the publisher’s website, Sage Publishing.

Is this only for educators in the UK?

No. If you can access the internet you can join! Currently the live calls will be at UK times, however all recordings will be available in the resource library.

If you are a VIP you will be asked to submit your questions before the recording, so if you are unable to attend live your question can still be answered.

Please note, that the majority of references to school systems will be UK based, however strategies to supporting behaviour are, of course, universal alongside considering context.

Will the membership cover any of the CPD credits I have to do for my school?

The Behaviour Membership is not accredited (yet). However, you can ask your school to contact us here and we are happy to provide a cover email-letter outlining the nature of the content that you will be covering as part of your Membership, which will cover the majority of any behaviour management training requirements.
